Civil Engineering Students Place Second

Ten civil engineering students, along with associate professor Dr. Taqsim Husnain attended the 2024 American Society of Civil Engineers Mid America Student Symposium. They participated in the regional student steel bridge competition and placed second overall, defeating University of Missouri-Columbia, University of Kansas, Kansas State, St. Louis University and other area colleges. They also won second place in construction speed and economy. This performance qualified them for the national competition at Louisiana Tech on May 31 to compete with the best colleges in the nation.

Jewell’s civil engineering program is ABET accredited and is designed with an emphasis on the environmental, social and economic impacts of our decisions.
