In teaching the Spanish language and Hispanic literary and cultural studies, Dr. Lisenby challenges students to engage our world’s socio-cultural complexities. Through the Honors Institute, Dr. Lisenby guides students to self-consciously examine their cognitive processes and then to find ways to make a difference in the world by using critical thinking in practical ways.
Dr. Lisenby was awarded a 2021 Literature Translation Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. His literary translations appear in Words Without Borders, Two Lines, Latin American Literature Today, The Mercurian, Exchanges, and Island in the Light. His academic publications on Cuban and Latin American literature and culture appear in A Contracorriente, Revista Canadiense de Estudios Hispánicos, Afro-Hispanic Review, Chasqui, and elsewhere.
