Collegiate Nursing Academy helps high school students with nursing career goals
09/15/2023
William Jewell College, in collaboration with Liberty Hospital, helps prepare Liberty Public Schools seniors to sit for the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) exam at the end of the senior year.
In the new Collegiate Nursing Academy, seniors complete 75 hours of instruction and training on the Jewell campus each fall with college-level faculty. They utilize the state-of-the-art technology available to all nursing students attending Jewell. In the spring, these participants will move to Liberty Hospital where they will complete 100 hours of clinical instruction with teaching nurses.
Students who successfully complete the course and the CNA certification exam will have a guaranteed job interview at Liberty Hospital. These students will also receive a Collegiate Nursing Academy scholarship to use for college expenses if they elect to attend Jewell.
Through this new community partnership, students will be able to attend for minimal cost. Each student will receive an electronic textbook and workbook, scrubs and jacket, and a stethoscope courtesy of the Liberty Hospital Foundation. Students will be required to purchase black shoes and pay their state exam fee.
